Day of Nothingness, Foiled

May 21st, 2007 by jonesy

Em and I agreed earlier in the week that Sunday, would be a day of nothing. We both had a really long and trying week lowes1.gifand we felt we needed to take a day to recover. Well the day started on that note, but ended so differently. At the end of the day many of the employees at our neighborhood Lowe’s new our face by heart and knew the project we were invested in for the day.

After breakfast we decided to run to Lowe’s and pick up a couple of small items and that was our mistake. Our day of relaxation was hijacked by a rack of lighting fixtures. Long story made short is we got a really good deal on two new bathroom fixtures, a new hall fixture and a pendant light for the kitchen sink. At end of the day we had planted a new tree, several small plants, a new potted plant, as well as installed a new inline water filtration system in the kitchen, installed the pendant light, moved a fixture and hung a new fixture in the front hall, and installed a new fixture in the guest bathroom.

The funny part of the story, this took 7 trips to Lowe’s. Because this was not a planned event, we were in need for items that we did not have around the house. A couple of the installations became more than just, popping out the old and installing the new, doesn’t it always? Needed to repaint, replace broken globes, pick up bubs, etc. But, at the end of the day, I am really proud of the updates we were able to make to the house, but boy am I beat.

Moral of the story: Temptation and snares come in many forms.
