Here is a rather large slideshow of photos form our recent family vacation. We spent a week in Glen Arbor, MI with Em’s family. The week we were there happened to be the week prior to the busy summer season, so the town was still fairly quiet, which is perquisite for a good vacation. It was a very relaxing week spent sleeping late, walking the small town, swimming, canoeing, wine tasting, and just relaxing. I believe we may have found a spot that we will return over and over again.
I got my third tattoo (1 is covered) on Saturday, March 1 by Kevin Harden at Ronin Tattoo. It is a black image of a raven in a tree branch. I could tell you some elaborate story about why I got a raven on my shoulder, but there simply isn’t one. I chose the design because I thought it would make a distinct tattoo and the elements do hold some significance, but nothing like you hear on LA Ink.
Here is a picture I snapped of Em and myself at the Fun With Lips show. She is definitely the love of my life and continues to make me happy daily. She inspires me daily to remain positive, to continue to see the best in any situation, and amazes me at her abilities as a mother, which we will be putting to the test for the third time. Yep! She is pregnant with our third.
What do you call 3 Pastors and a very talented Worship Pastors in a Toyota Matrix? I snapped this shot at 80mph on the way to see the January 12th Fun With Lips show.
Well, here it is again past my bed time.I was diagnosed with pneumonia last Friday and given a crap load of drugs to take to get over it.All is going well and I plan on returning to work tomorrow, but the stupid steroids are keeping me up.The steroid has many side affects, such as insomnia, paranoia, nervousness, racing thoughts, etc.I am experiencing all of the side affects just in time for bed.I do say this is the fourth time I have had pneumonia and this is the best it actually has gone, so here is to the modern miracles of the pharmaceutical industry.
My two kiddos exploring the hedge maze at the Morton Arboretum earlier this Fall. It was such a blast seeing them run around, get lost, and ultimately find their way out.
Em asked me the other day what I would like for Christmas and as soon as she asked I knew. Now, I am posting this here because I am taking up a collection to pay for it, since it is a few hundred bucks. I would like an Electra bike. Precisely the “Rockabilly Boogy “ model; found at http://www.electrabike.com/cruiser/.
Now I really don’t expect that I will get this, but a boy can dream, right?
I have to say that I saw the most disturbing thing ever this weekend. The 70’s had invaded CCC and the white leisure suits were in affect. The one thing that freaked me out the most was the relative comfortableness that a few of the staff members seemed to have with the get-ups. Carter Moss was wearing the Travolta, white suit black shirt, and man it was unsettling how at home he seemed in it. The campus intern Aaron was on the drums this weekend and Em and I agreed he looked way to normal in his funkafied sequined newsboy hat and white tie. My final observation was this; why did Charissa NOT join in the festivities and wear something from the 70’s?
I am back from vacation, somewhat rested and regaining my focus. The previous two months took every thing out of me, physically and emotionally; I really needed a break. I haven’t had a real vacation in years, so this was something that felt a little awkward, but necessary. We went camping up on the northern peninsula of Door County in Wisconsin. It was a great time to reconnect as a family, get rest, go on a few adventures, and learn a few things that I might have been missing. My son is really interested in photography and he really seems to have a good eye at the age of 6 and does an excellent job of framing a picture. My daughter has no fear and loves to climb rocks; age 3 she is a rock climber. The most amazing fact learned was that I can survive for nearly 7 days without technology; no TV, no mobile windows device, and no computer.
I will hopefully get some pictures up in the next couple of days to share some of my favorite moments.
I saw a premiere showing of Transformers this evening and it was astounding. I was so worried that with all the hype and my excitement that it would end up a huge flop, but I am happy to say that my fears was left unrealized.
The movie was a complete thrill ride; that left me wanting more. The visual effects are flawless and the fact that the physics appear to be accurate throughout the action sequences make the film even more amazing.  Shia LaBeouf plays Sam a likeable quirky teen that happens upon Bumblebee. Though Shia did an incredible job in the end the show was stolen by the computer generated AutoBots. If I am honest with myself I was there to see some Autobots kick some Decepticon tail and there was a lot of that.
In case you are not sure how I feel about this movie or my recommendation, GO SEE IT. Buy your tickets now!
The day has come my team is launching the first of many newspaper sites, Orlando Sentinel. It feels that all of the Tribune Company is looking to see how this launch goes, no pressure at all. We make the switch at 6pm CST this evening and if all goes well I will be home by midnight.
