Phil

“As I look around me, a bright sky I see, and a shadow beside me. Six more weeks of winter it will be!”

That is the official word from Punxsutawney Phil this morning was not good news at all, unless you like winter. To learn more about the famous groundhog and the holiday visit the site or the movie visit imdb.

Enema, before or after dinner?

Observed in Buca di Beppo in Chicago and it leaves me asking one question; before or after dinner?

Hell-a-Cool

January 31st, 2008 by jonesy

Pinball Game

Zell’s number 2, Randy Michaels, had pinball machines, jukeboxes, and air hockey put in to support the creative atmosphere he is promoting within Tribune Interactive. That is cool and all, but the coolest is one of the pinball machines is a South Park machine, hell-a-cool. I am not sure that it has stirred the creative juices, but I know it has started a few brag boards and heated games early in the morning and over lunch.

Facebook

I finally caved to the social pressures at work and joined Facebook; listed as Cyril Scott Jones.  I guess I can call it a community experiment.

Tax-Exempt

January 30th, 2008 by jonesy

Dunkin Donuts Coffee

I stopped in Dunkin Donuts this morning for a cup of coffee and a donut on my way to work. I usually go through the drive-thru, but had to go in because my driver side widow was frozen shut. I stepped in line behind a woman that just ordered coffee. As the lady started to ring her up she pulled out a tax-exempt id from the City of Oswego and stated it would be tax-exempt. So, the cashier had to get the manager to ring it up. I was stunned, seriously, is she reselling the coffee or is the city consuming it?

Where can I get one of these forms? I am going to start Googling for it now.

Darn Cookies

January 27th, 2008 by jonesy

Girlscout cookiesI am like most people and look forward to the Girl Scout Cookie drive every year. I look forward to the delivery of the cookies that I love the Samoas and Thin Mints for Em. Well, this year I went overboard, but really didn’t realize how overboard until Em and I sat down and counted up our orders.

It all started on a Saturday afternoon with a ring of the doorbell and a cute girl asking me to buy cookies. Of course I bought some (6 boxes). About an hour later the doorbell rang again and another cookie peddler and yes I bought again (4 boxes). On Sunday I received an email form a friend asking to purchase cookie form their daughter and of course I did (4 boxes), oh yeah Em received the same email and she said ye, as well (6 boxes). The following week I bought a few more (4 boxes) from a colleague at work, as did Em (3 boxes). Yes, a total of 27 boxes.

Em and I were talking and realized how overboard we went, okay, I went. I guess the first step to recover y is admitting you having a problem. Now I need to find a twelve-step program for Girl Scout Cookie recovery.

No P Word

January 24th, 2008 by jonesy

The other night Em and I had some friends over for dinner and to hang out when Connor, my son, said the funniest thing. I do not recall what we were talking about, but the word “potty” came up. Well, Connor scolded us and said we were to not use the p word, because he saw it on a sign. I asked where he saw the sign and he explained that in the car earlier that day he saw a sign with a big P and red circle with a line crossing it out. He had mistaken a “No Parking” sign for a sign saying “No P Words.”

Kids are so awesome!

Em and I

January 20th, 2008 by jonesy

Em and IHere is a picture I snapped of Em and myself at the Fun With Lips show. She is definitely the love of my life and continues to make me happy daily. She inspires me daily to remain positive, to continue to see the best in any situation, and amazes me at her abilities as a mother, which we will be putting to the test for the third time. Yep! She is pregnant with our third.

Fun With Lips Show

January 18th, 2008 by jonesy

These images were taken at the FWL show at Idol’s in Palatine back on the 12th of January. It was cool hanging out with friends from CCC and seeing a friend’s band, Jason. The band did 3 sets that evening, which equated to 45 individual songs that ranged form Ozzy to Mellencamp. I unfortunately had to get my pregnant wife home half-way through the second set.FWL

CT Scan . . .

January 11th, 2008 by jonesy

I had a scheduled CT Scan today; yeah, I know, aren’t I lucky. It should have been a simple 15-minute procedure, but as you might have guessed it wasn’t. They performed the initial scan and then came back into to set up the dye push. They warn you that as the dye enters your system you will have sensations of warmth, being wet and possibly that you wet our pants. So, they set me up and put my arms behind my head. They left the room and I felt the warmth run down my arm, my neck and my back. The scan started once again and I lay there feeling weird and all the warm and wet feelings they warned me about. I felt it run down my arm across my neck and down my back. The sensations were more real than they explained, but I just lied there quietly.

After a short pause the technicians came in and asked me to not open my eyes. They explained that a valve burst or seal was not set and my catheter was draining all the dye out and I was draining blood as well. I had bled all over my arm on the table and that was mixed with a clear sticky warm dye. I knew the sensations seemed too real.

They cleaned up the table and me, just to do it all over again. Needless to say it was not nearly 15 minutes, but closer to an hour.
